Sing with Us

Leicester Bach Choir has a current singing membership of 60 and particularly welcomes new sopranos, tenors and basses.

Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings from 7.30 – 9.30pm, in 3 groupings roughly equivalent to school term times.

They are held in the hall at the back of St James the Greater Church which is on London Road and opposite Victoria Park: postcode LE2 1NA.

LBC is an auditioned choir. You are welcome to join us for a rehearsal or two before deciding to commit to an audition.
You will find us a friendly group. The rehearsals are hard work, but fun.

Everyone worries about auditions but they are held in a member’s house where she makes you very welcome, and Richard Laing makes them as informal as possible.

You are accompanied as you sing a few scales and arpeggios, asked to remember and sing a few notes, do a little sight-reading, and perform a short piece that you have prepared.

The choir can cope with a few singers whose sight-reading isn’t so good, providing you have a good ear and are committed to doing enough homework to learn your part.

You can learn by downloading a practice voice part from the internet, and by listening to the piece on Spotify.

We also operate a buddy system for singers who would like to be paired with a friendly, more experienced singer.

Current annual subscription is £225 which includes music. There is a pro-rata subscription for those who join during the year.

Free membership and music hire is offered to singers under 22 and to students in full time education. Members aged 22-25 have a reduced subscription of £25.00.
